Happy clothes make a happy baby!
Wednesday, November 9th, 2011 by lewisOne of Cocoro’s USP is to provide babies with ‘happy’ comfortable clothes. That is why all the Cocoro tags are in an indirect position - not against baby’s skin.
Recently I’ve found this marvellous Uniqlo baby romper.
It’s in an obvious position, and even looks like it is inside out. I personally love this idea, but what do you think?

Time Flies When You Are A Mum!
Tuesday, July 12th, 2011 by tomonoI’m so sorry for being rubbish to post blogs! Where has my time gone again?
My breakfast is no longer sitting down around the table (if I get the chance to have one!), leaving the house takes ages, when my hubby and I finally sit down on the couch in the evening we fall asleep within 30mins….. But hey-ho my children are healthy and happy, so I’m happy!
I received this lovely picture from a friend of mine. Miri(6months) is wearing White Miri 70cm(4-8months) and as you can imagine, she inspired me to produce White Miri and name it after her.

Now I’m working on new collection and even thinking about extending our size into toddler sizes. So please sign in on our newsletter to get the latest offer and news!
Have a lovely Tuesday!

On trend baby brands
Sunday, October 17th, 2010 by tomonoWe visited a baby trade show in Tokyo this Summer. There were lots of adorable and colourful baby goods at the trade show. However we could not really find any traditional Japanese baby goods. European designs are incredibly popular and it looks like they are on trend in Japan.
I found this brand called ‘rice’ they use such lovely colours. I see their products everywhere here in the UK, too. such as at ‘Whole Foods’

.
Cocoro’s identity is Japanese, ethical, unique and functional. So we could not really find anything for our brand but it was such a good day to inspire what was on trend in Japan.
What’s kind of baby brands are popular in your country?
Do you know Anpanman?
Thursday, September 9th, 2010 by tomonoWhen my brother took us to Anpanman museum just a few days after we arrived in Japan, Oscar did not really get the idea of Anpanman.
Well it didn’t take long for him to recognize this popular character which you can see everywhere you go in Japan. So when we went back to the Anpanman museum in Yokohama a few weeks later, he absolutely loved it!
Oscar was wearing a lovely baby Kimono that was a gift from a dear friend of mine. Big thank you for my dear friend Mami!

Staying warm in winter - Japanese style
Thursday, January 28th, 2010 by tomonoSince I come from really warm place in Japan, English winter seems so long and freezing.
This is my 8th winter experience in England but still can’t get used to it. So I learned lots about how to keep myself warm. Apparently women have a lower body temparature than men according to this interesting article in the Times. My partner’s normal body temparture is around 37 degree and mine is just above 35 so I have a good excuse to whinge!
Ginger is very effective to keep body warm, so I usually have grated ginger and honey in a mug with hot water.
Some Japanese family has ‘Kotatsu’ - a kind of low table with a duvet-like skirt and a heater underneath. My parents used to have one long time ago and it was so easy to nod off when you had your legs under it.

Do you know beddy bear ? You can put her in the microwave and she keeps you warm for a good few hours!

I love micro fleece blanket around me at home and marvelous heat tech tops from UNIQLO,too.
How about something to keep your little one toasty?
Our baby kimono might not be the best to keep your little one warm but Oscar was wearing them with some tights and a Tshirt in the winter and he looked adorable.

Baby Kimono with tights and TShirt
Just before I went back to Japan this Xmas, my good friend Yuki told me leg warmer is a must-buy items while I was in Japan. She was absolutely right, these baby leg warmers are so useful! So much easier than tights when you change their nappy.
Anyway, I can’t find boys’ tights anywhere in UK, is it not boyish to wear tights under the trousers?

p.s. Lewis thinks I should buy a cast iron chiminea - might be good for the summer but I’d have to hug it in winter and that is probably dangerous…
Japanese Themed Play Group
Monday, January 25th, 2010 by tomonoSome of them tried on our kimono and I must say that they were absolutely adorable! They really stole my heart and I even started to feel a bit broody. I was so happy to get lots of great feedback from the mums about how beautiful they are and how easy they were to dress. Happy!
When Oscar was only 5weeks we started going to the similar play group at Sure Start. It was designed for new born babies and mums up to 7-8months. Each week we had a topic to discuss and share experiences. Some weeks it was about weaning, teething, breast feeding etc. I enjoyed getting out of the house, I also met fabulous friends who I still keep in touch with.
I also enjoyed going to a music playgroup and PEEP. I was talking to my Japanese friend today about how expensive it would be to give similar opportunities in Japan. There are some council playgroups and help, but nothing like here in UK.

Baby kimono - perfect for the beach!
Thursday, January 14th, 2010 by tomonoWhen you go on a beach holiday with your little one, what would you pack in your suitcase? Are you looking for a special outfit? I can find lots of cute swimwear, but I haven’t met any remarkable, unique beach clothes that keep little ones cool and yet adoreble.
How about our baby kimono? They are very light, easy to wash and don’t take up much space in your suitcase!
Our baby kimono travelled to the Maldives this Christmas and we have received these lovely pictures of Shun-kun in our best selling baby kimono - dark blue warabe (now available in red and cream too!)
Little Shun-kun’s mum told me he and his friend wowed people on the coast in their adorable outfits.
Ahh… I’m so happy that our baby kimono are traveling all over the world.!
Please send us photos to tomono@cocorostyle.com with our kimonos on if you don’t mind sharing in this site. I’m so looking forward to it!

The problem with care labels…
Wednesday, December 16th, 2009 by tomonoEvery winter I have such a dry skin and so does my little boy.
Oscar’s eczema has almost gone now but he still scratches the back of the neck. I was wondering why he always has a little redness on only that part of the body and soon found out it was from itchy care labels.
Nowadays, we buy clothes from shops which have stores internationally and the care labels are outrageously massive. Even you cut them off the sharp edge are still itchy, don’t you think?
So what cocoro introduced for little sensitive babies is to put our brand labels outside the kimono and put the care label on top of the inside layer - preventing it from touching the skin.
I hope our kimonos are not only super cute but super comfortable for your little one!
